THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY!! Annual review of 2018 (German+English text)
In diesem Jahr ist vieles passiert und ich habe vieles gelernt. Über mich, über andere Leute und über das Leben. Es ist schwer ein Wort zu finden, dass dieses Jahr beschreibt, da es Höhen und Tiefen gab. 2018 war ein Abenteuer.
Much has happened this year and I have learned a lot. About me, about other people and about life. It's hard to find a word that describes this year, as there were ups and downs. 2018 was an adventure.
Angefangen hat alles mit meinem Umzug von Virginia nach Florida, zu meiner neuen Gastfamilie. Definitiv kein leichter Start in ein neues Jahr, jedoch habe ich mich sofort in Florida verliebt und Anschluss gefunden, was das Ganze leichter gemacht hat.
Geburtstage, Feiertage und anderes wurde gefeiert und die amerikanische Kultur wurde weiter erkundet.
Ich bereue meinen Umzug keine Sekunde und blicke heute stolz auf 2018 und alle gemeisterten Schwierigkeiten zurück!
It all started with my move from Virginia to Florida, to my new host family. Definitely not an easy start to a new year, but I immediately fell in love with Florida and made connections, which made the whole thing easier. Birthdays, holidays and other events were celebrated and the American culture was explored further. I do not regret my move for a second and look back proudly on 2018 and all mastered difficulties today!
Wir alle haben das Ziel möglichst viel oder vielleicht sogar die ganze Welt zu sehen und ich hatte viele Möglichkeiten dieses Jahr Amerika mehr zu erkunden. Nah und fern, Ost- und Westküste. Um genau zu sein ging es nach Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York City, Tampa, Anna Maria Island, Las Vegas, Los Angeles und Colorado. Jede Reise war etwas ganz besonderes und enthielt life lessons. Doch eine Sache passierte auf jeder Reise. Ich habe mich selbst besser kennen gelernt, habe mich gefunden, ich weiß wo ich mit meinem Leben hin will.
We all aim to see as much as possible or even the whole world and I had many opportunities to explore America this year. Near and far, east and west coast. To be precise, I went to Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York City, Tampa, Anna Maria Island, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Colorado. Each trip was very special and included life lessons. But one thing happened on every trip. I got to know myself better, found myself, I know where I want to go with my life.
Ein großen Teil dieses Jahr spielt der Glaube für mich. Ich bin als Baby getauft worden und war immer Teil einer Kirche, doch was mir immer gefehlt hat ist eine persönliche Beziehung mit Jesus. Als junge Erwachsene streben wir immer nach dem besten, wir hinterfragen viele Dinge und auch uns selbst, dich finden wir nicht für alles eine Antwort ohne den Glauben. Dieses Jahr habe ich gelernt, was es heißt das eigene Leben Jesus zu geben und durch/mit ihn/ihm.
Another big part of this year was my faith. I was baptized as a baby and was always part of a church, but what I have always missed is a personal relationship with Jesus. As young adults we always strive for the best, we question many things and ourselves, we do not find an answer for everything without faith. This year, I've learned what it means to give your life to Jesus and live through him and with him.
In 2018 habe ich so viele tiefe Freundschaften geschlossen, sei es in der Kirche, meiner Kleingruppe oder durch das Aupair Programm. Ich glaube es hilft sehr viel sich selbst gut zu kennen bevor man andere Leute kennen lernt. Das Leben kann manchmal ziemlich verrückt und chaotisch werden, mit den richtigen Leuten an deiner Seite wird das Leben leichter. Freundschaft ist eines der schönsten Geschenke. Ich bin so dankbar, euch an meiner Seite zu haben und kann mir nicht vorstellen, wie mein Leben ohne euch aussehen würde!!
In 2018 I made so many deep friendships, through church, my small group or the Aupair program. I think it helps a lot to know yourself well before you meet other people. Life can sometimes get pretty crazy and chaotic, with the right people at your side life will get easier! Friendship is one of the most beautiful gifts. I’m so thankful to do life with all my friends. You guys are amazing and I couldn’t imagine doing all this without y’all!!
Ich bin mittlerweile schon über 17 Monate in Amerika. 17 Monate getrennt von Freunden und Familie in Deutschland. Diese Zeit hat mir gezeigt wie sehr ich meine Familie und Freunde liebe und vermisse. Ich bin so dankbar für jede einzelne Person in meinem Leben und ebenso schätze ich jede Freundschaft oder andere Art von Beziehung sehr!!
I have been in America for over 17 months now. 17 months separated from friends and family in Germany. This time has shown me how much I love and miss my family and friends. I am so thankful for every single person in my life and also I very much appreciate any friendship or other kind of relationship!!
Zu guter letzt habe ich auch gelernt, mein Leben zu genießen!! Natürlich wird nicht jeder Tag voller Freude sein, aber abends glücklich im Bett zu liegen und zu wissen, dass auch dieser Tag in dein Leben gehört und vielleicht auch dankbar dafür zu sein, dass man aus einer Sache oder Situation gelernt hat! Das Leben ist zu kurz um sich auf die schlechten Dinge zu konzentrieren. Ich war noch nie ein ganzes Jahr über so glücklich!!
Last but not least, I also learned to enjoy my life !! Of course, not every day will be full of joy, but to layhappy in bed in the evening and to know that this day is also part of your life and perhaps also being grateful that you have learned from a cause or situation! Life is too short to focus on the bad things. I have never been so happy for a whole year!!
2018 war bisher eines der besten Jahre meines Lebens und ich bin sehr gespannt, was 2019 bereit hält. Vielen Dank, 2018, für alle life lessons die du mich gelehrt hast, die vielen Freundschaften die ich bilden konnte und damit ganzen schönen Momente und reisen die ich erleben konnte!!
